Responsible fax testing practices

Fax testing should be narrow, permission-based, and easy for recipients to understand. The goal is to confirm a technical endpoint, not to advertise, solicit, or repeatedly interrupt a receiving office.

Keep volume low

One test is usually enough to prove whether a destination can receive. If a retry is needed, wait long enough to avoid creating a burst of duplicate pages.

Make the page self-explanatory

The test page should clearly say it is an automated delivery test and that no reply is required. The page should be plain enough that a receiving office can recognize it without handling private material.

Avoid sensitive content

Never use private records as test material. A blank operational test page is safer, easier to audit, and less risky if the destination number was entered incorrectly.
