Checklist
Fax endpoint readiness checklist
Before a fax number is published or handed to a customer, it helps to confirm that the entire receive path is working. A fax endpoint is more than a phone number; it includes routing, document handling, notifications, and internal ownership.
Number and routing
- The number is assigned to the correct service or device.
- Inbound routing sends documents to the expected inbox, queue, or user.
- The receiving team knows who owns failures and retry decisions.
Transmission behavior
- The endpoint answers consistently during business hours or expected operating hours.
- Busy or timeout behavior is understood before production use.
- At least one test page has been received clearly from an outside sender.
Operational follow-through
- Staff can find the received document without relying on a single person.
- Retention and privacy rules are understood for any real documents.
- There is a way to report misrouted or unwanted fax traffic.
